ho-tel or a mo-tel or a holiday inn

woohoo moved into the new house last night and its SO NICE. its a really new house, only been open since september so all the kitchen/bathroom/furniture is brand new (its fully furnished too which is great) theres 6 of us living there - me, lauren, andy (italian - from the zoo), otto (italian - who lived in the zoo before we came - knows andy), and two people id never met - karen and another otto! (english girl, german guy) the house is amazing i cant wait to get some photos up, and its really smart, its an old Police Station from years and years ago thats been refurbished! we share a courtyard with 2 other houses - both of which were the cells!! we havent been in the other houses yet but apparantly their really nice/modern and stuff but still have things like tiny windows in the bedroom! wer gonna have a cops and robbers party on saturday, each house wearing suitable clothing haha. woohoo its easter too so that means 4 day weekend, and 3 of our friends from the zoo are coming over from sydney so itl be great.

its so incredibly nice to be able to sleep in a clean bed, and put your own stuff in the shower, and not have to take your bag around everywhere with u even inside the house! our hostel was alright i wouldnt have hated staying longer, but it definately wasnt exactly cushy. we were in a 10 bed dorm and luckily just as we were leaving the place seemed to explode with bedbugs. i didnt get bitten at all but about 6 other people in the room did, and annabel was actually bitten so badly the guys from the hostel took her to a doctor and then paid for her to have two nights in the hotel next door! (we made the most of her tv). hostels are alright while ur there i think, u kinda get used to the mingingness and the general smellyness of it, but now moving into a decent place is such a constrast.

im gonna miss the randomers u meet in the hostels tho haha, there were so many chinese and japanese people who had noodles for every meal of the day including breakfast, and tonnes of french who were really cliquey, and there was this one guy in the bed below me who i kinda loved and hated at the same time. he was the messiest person iv ever met in my life, when i first arrived i hardly even had anywhere to put my bag cuz all his crap was just spread all over the floor. on that day the cleaners came round and put signs on the doors telling u to move all ur stuff onto ur bed and that anything on the floor would get thrown out. so i thought ah at least thatl make him clear it up a bit! how niaive was that? he just threw it all on his bed and threw it right back all over the floor after the clean. but his stuff wasnt just normal crap like clothes etc, he had like childrens toys like spinning wheels and 50s postcards, and those really old books where u can choose ur own ending. i couldnt figure him out at all and then when i met him it just added to the wierdness- he was like a little elfin man, with a bald head but long hair around the sides, who spoke with a stutter and slept in full clothing (including shoes and puffa jacket!) he was just nutty!

ooh at the moment its melbourne comedy festival for about a month, but as wer cheap and rubbish wev only managed to get to the comedy night at the bar next to our hostels (which is pretty good to be fair) AND RANDOMLY, the headliner of the night on monday was the same guy we saw at the hi fi in leeds the saturday before i went away!! (Dan Willis) i went up to him afterwards and was like ey up iv seen u before and he was like shit so uv seen me do all the same jokes then? i was like yup! but he was really nice and gave me 6 free tickets to his show thats part of the comedy festival! not bad i say. and another WIERD coincidence happened to me on saturday! i was walking through town with jamie and we stopped for a bit to watch a beatboxer who sounded pretty good. it only took me a couple of seconds to recognise him and realise he was one that id seen before in camden!!! i went up to him afterwards and asked if he ever did the same in camden and he was like yeah, my local! crazy!

Whats that they say about it being a small world??almost home from home eh? The new house sounds really "nice" ( in an approving, relieved, mother kind of voice). Is the Bug girl in there too? you have to be careful not to bring the little horrors with you so she might need fumigating, seriously! It does not look cold on the pics so I guess you were exaggerating after all.Have a good holiday break and then tell us about the music scene unless there is nt one........xxxxxxxxxxxxmum ( cant get the password to work any more so Im anon.)
